Michael Leetzow

Michael Leetzow is a patent attorney with nearly 20 of experience located in Lake Mary, Florida. In November 2007, Mr. Leetzow was designated by the Florida Bar as one of the first ´Florida Board Certified Intellectual Property Lawyer´, a designation given to only a few IP attorneys.

Mr. Leetzow was an attorney at two very large internationally recognized Intellectual Property law firms in Washington, D.C. before going in-house as Patent Counsel at Corning Cable Systems, a Fortune 500 company located in North Carolina. After four years, he opened his own Intellectual Property practice in his native state of Florida.

Mr. Leetzow is a member of the Florida, Georgia, and Washington, D.C. bars and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He is also a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Bar Association, and the Federal Circuit Bar Association.

Mr. Leetzow has significant experience in all facets of IP practice, especially in patents, trademarks, and copyright, both in USA and globally. He focuses solely on Intellectual Property matters, including Trademarks, Patents, Copyright, Trade Secrets, Unfair Competition, Non-Disclosure Agreements, License Agreements, Non-Compete Agreements, Litigation Support (Expert Witnessing and IP Issues).

Mr. Leetzow has extensive patent prosecution experience in electrical, mechanical, and software technologies, as well as in the fields of medical devices, medical imaging (CT, MRI, Ultrasound), golf clubs, office products, flour milling equipment and processes, telecommunications, and fiber optic devices and processes. Moreover, he also advises clients about all aspects of the invention process, including confidentiality, patent validity and infringement, and licensing.

Another significant part of Mr. Leetzow’s practice are trademark and copyright issues.
Mr. Leetzow has served as an expert witness for patent and royalty issues in litigation where the jury awarded the client more than $550 million in damages, and the case later settled for $1.35 billion.
Having been both the attorney and a client, Mr. Leetzow brings a perspective to the IP field that is different from many IP practitioners.

Mr. Leetzow graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a B.S.H.P. degree in 1986 and from the University of Florida with a M.S. in 1988. He received his J.D. from the Washington College of Law.

Mr. Leetzow has been the Director of Intellectual Property Services Group at Ius Juris, LLC since the inception of the company in 2006.
